Computer in a Briefcase

If you are needing to use your computer on the move why not hack it into a briefcase like imp558 has done.

"The next step will be to install my device programmer so it just shows a socket and indicator, and some black paint on the monitor brackets. The monitor is safely behind a piece of Lexan but it’s hard to see. The reason for this project is that I dual boot, which is easier from 2 seperate drives, and I need a third drive to use for storage of gigs and gigs of schematics. The drive in the middle was to be my windows drive but I found it had given up the ghost so a new WD3200 lives there now. The whole thing sends a little warm air out the back but nothing gets hot."

  1. Nice Hack! it’snt the mouse a bit big?

  2. Haha, poor man’s laptop. Neat! Although the monitor and fans sticking out kinda ruin the briefcase look, it’d be cooler if it appeared to be an ordinary briefcase when closed.

It must be awfully heavy to lug around with one hand though.

  3. Hmm… get a flatter monitor (one with a power brick) or pull the back off. Should have at least used a low profile vidcard, but I guess it was all leftover parts

  4. Good luck trying to get this one aboard a plane. It would most likely be the subject of a controlled explosion.

Seriously though. Good effort, although from a usability point of view, keeping the monitor and fans inside the case would protect the device alot better not to mention improving it’s aesthetic appeal.

    Nice all the same though.

  5. I love it. Uses my favorite type of stuff, junk lying around picking up dust, just wish I had some of those parts “just lying around”. I dont mind it at all, if it runs and works then you have a desktop to go.

  6. What, no handcuff on the handle??! lol
    Nice mod tho.

  7. Hello.

Nowadays we have netbook :-)) Or, or you can add a handle to your computer case. That will save you a lot of money… Just kidding nice hack. I suppose the purpose of it is to have an embedded emergency server at hand if something goes wrong with the local ones.

    Merry Christmas.

  8. Very nice. That would make a hilarious gift to a kid getting ready for college. “Here you go, son. We couldn’t afford to get you a laptop so I made this for you.”

  9. ehhhh just buy a laptop dude héhé

  10. WOW IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM
