Here is a fun project that is sure to spice up your next party. 🙂 Ercost60 built this cool Hot Wheels Basic Stamp Margarita Dispenser, watch a few cars zip around and get a drink from the gas can.
"A Parallax Basic Stamp 1 monitors the progress of the stunts using microswitches added to the accessories. If the track is properly set up (requiring a hint of sobriety) and the Basic Stamp verifies the proper trigger sequence and timing intervals, then a 12-volt pump fills a cup with pre-mixed margarita from a gas can reservoir."

Interesting. But, I have a gripe: This doesn’t seem safe. At all. I’ll assume the gas can has never been used for actual gas, but I have no idea the effects of the alcohol on the plastic… Neglecting potential health and safety issues of the gas can, there’s the matter of the windshield wiper fluid pump. I’m not sure on the inner workings of these (and again, I’ll assume it’s NEVER been used for its intended purpose), but I’m betting it’s NOT peristaltic. Peristaltic pumps, or increasing the pressure of the liquid container (using air, like the Bar2D2 robot) to force it out is the only inherently safe method of dispensing anything that is to be ingested. It’s a neat little project, but I worry about the potential toxins introduced by the gas can and the pump.

It really pisses me off when people leave comments like those by mikheil, I mean come on, this guy used some basic electronics and programming to achieve something humorous like this. So what if it’s not elegant, useful or really practical, this is what hacking is all about.
I, for one, think it’s brilliant, mainly for the novelty value. Sure, I wouldn’t use it to dispense all of my beverages, but it’s still pretty funny.
tl;dr, if you don’t like something, shut up and move on. Either that or at least give a reason as to why you don’t like it.

When I was trying my hand at making my own beer (hard to do well) I remember reading lots of warnings all ever the place to only use food safe containers for storing and processing your beer. Lots of people use garbage pails since they are big and cheap but lots of people mentioned the ill effects of toxins that can leach out of the plastic.

Don’t flatter yourself, it’d take more than some ridiculous all-caps comment to make me jump from a building. And by the way, on the internet, there is no “big boys”, just people who will, probably, never see each other. So stop acting tough.
No really, you’ll go far in the intertubes if you drop the tough guy act. And who knows, people might actually take you seriously instead of just laughing at you.
And I understand that it is “Your right to not like”, but it’d be nice if you could give constructive criticism instead of calling it shit.

Yeah Mikhal I thought it was lame too, although I think I’d like one myself. I thought it was much lamer though when you started typing in all caps. When you see someone else type something in caps how does that make you respond? Next, you told someone to jump off a building and then signed the message “PEACE.” I thought that was ironic.
