Everything is Spinning
Our crazy mad scientist friend Rick Crammond (MrfixitRick) had made a cool compilation of the last 5 years of his experiments. You will see some of the successes and failures that he has had over the years.

Sometimes you just ask what will happen if… In this case it is what would happen if you Spin a Plasma Ball at 4000 RPM! Turns out the ball pattern locks into a strange pattern, the plasma effect also continues to spin after the actual ball comes back to rest. Why does this happen? Not sure. I am sure we will see more of this rig in the future
David Prutchi has just put together a DIY Gamma-Ray Probe using a Philips XP5312/SN photomultiplier tube and a piece of scintillation plastic. A paint can was selected as a nice solid enclosure, the tube and plastic are supported by some foam on the inside to protect them from damage. “The probe yields a background count of approximately 1,000 counts/minute (cpm) in our lab, and 7,400 cpm from a 137Cs
Ben shows us how he starts one of his hacks. He is talking a midi controller and making it fit into a Guitar sized unit. Lots of work went into moving some sliders and buttons around so that it will work in the new form factor. Ben uses a neat trick to make the new front face fit all of the existing buttons. He takes a scan of the
If you are a bike rider you might want to pimp your ride with some custom features. Have a look at what Jenna has done for some inspiration. She has provided all of the code so you can also duplicate her work.
What is the voltage on a AA battery? It would be around 1:30PM if you were using this voltmeter! A PICAXE 18M2 microcontroller is used to read an analog value, calculate what time it represents and then uses a stepper motor to spin the adjustment knob to have the clock show the voltage using the hour and minute hands. 🙂 Read more about the Analog Clock Voltmeter “The max
Want to build some electronic devices that will literately self destruct? Many people say that is what electronics do already compared to electronics built 15 years ago. It wasn’t that long ago that devices were built like tanks and designed to last as long as possible. These days I think most devices are designed to just outlast the warranty period. Scientists are working on a method of building electronics
