What Were They Thinking

Outlet Wall

Here is an example of cool electrical art. As crazy as this outlet wall is there were many times that I wish that is exactly what I had behind my workbench. There is usually always just one device that can’t be plugged in because of a large wall wart or the cable just doesn’t quite reach. Wiimote Controlled 15 Ton Robot Arms

It looks like the Engineers over at Transmin are having some fun with their robots and a Wiimote! It looks like so much to have that much power being controlled by a single Wiimote. I think this officially tops the Wiimote Sword Robot. Via: Hackaday and Make

Automatic Cat Food Dispenser

This is a very cool Automatic Cat Food Dispenser project. Who wouldn’t want to feed their cats automatically. The project could have stopped at about 10 percent of where it is at and still accomplished the goal of automatic feeding but that would be no fun. If the project is worth doing it is worth over doing, and this is exactly what happened here. Andres Leon built this automatic

Human Camcorder

Who says our youth are out of shape because of all the video game playing they do? These guys were probably influenced by a video game but have probably taken it a bit farther than is healthy. With a camcorder strapped to his head the guy does some Spider-Man like moves. I don’t see any camera trickery but who knows…

Loo Log - Washroom Usage Monitoring

If you live in a house that has more people than washrooms you have probably come across the situation where you are waiting for one to free up. Sven has come up with a solution, use a microcontroller to capture usage information and graph it so that you can see what the typical usage patten is like! Have a look at the recent graphs for some additional details. 🙂

Pneumatic Bed Shaking Alarm Clock

This is a bed shaking alarm clock on steroids! This is even more jolting than my Fire Alarm Bell Alarm Clock! It uses two sources of air, a huge air compressor under the basement stairs and air from the car compressor. A computer controls a valve which starts bed shaking action. See the video below where it is tried out at a radio station. Thanks for the tip Stagueve.

Nevada Lightning Laboratory Experiments

The Nevada Lightning Laboratory were recently trying many experiments, such as what would happen if you flew a small radio controlled helicopter between two Tesla coils, could a small vehicle big enough for one person be powered using a Tesla coil. Watch the videos below for the cool answers. "We’ve done a number of things using Tesla’s original schematic, and have been able to transmit and receive considerable amounts
