Top 5 Crazy Watches from Tokyoflash

Check out Tokyoflash for a cool line up crazy watches. Here are my top 5 selections from their huge selection.

5. The Worlds Smallest LED Wristwatch
“At only 8mm thin and 40 grams, the Retsu is just 1/3 of the weight of most other LED watches. The Vertical display runs in line with the edge of the strap forming a smooth transition from one end to the other. Amazingly simple to read, the lights race up to the digit then trail off leaving one light reconfirming the number. This is repeated for each digit to tell the time. So straight forward it’s surprising no one has ever thought of it before.”

4. Binary Wristwatch
“For an LED watch it’s not short on features either. It has time with AM & PM modes, Month, date and day-of-the-week. Plus an auto light up function every 15 mins between 6PM & Midnight (Which can be activated/deactivated as required) There are a range of suitably Sci-fi light patterns using the 3 LED colors. Telling the time uses the colored LED’s to represent hours & minutes. By looking at the 4 rows of lights, the Green & Red LED’s at the top indicate the hour simply by counting them. 3 red = 3 o’clock. The Bottom rows of green & yellow LED’s indicate the minutes. 2 Green + 7 yellow = 27 minutes past. It’s the same for the date mode to indicate month & date. The day is shown on the very top row of holes where the markings M, T, W show the day (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc)”

3. Equalizer Wristwatch
“The display pushes up the top row of lights and they float back down in a real equalizer effect, finally all the lights fall down off the face of the watch to leave only two lights to indicate the time for 5 seconds, then the two lights also trail off. Our animation above is just a guide to the light up effect, in real life its a lot more impressive. The watch uses very little power for the amount of lights and is far more efficient than traditional LED watches. Note this is not an LED watch. It is an Advanced LCD using only 1 LED to light the entire watch using new technology. This is why the power consumption is low.”

2. Bingo Wristwatch
“Telling the time is deceptively simple. The outer dots are numbered 1-12 for the hours and the inner dots for minutes – there’s a small red marker on the inner track which points to the minutes in a traditional manner.” The bingo wristwatch won’t necessarily help you out in a bingo game but it does look sharp. Anyway, that is why online bingo sites were invented weren’t they? Maybe you could use the watch to tell you when your local bingo hall opens. That would be ironic wouldn’t it?

1. Radio Active Wristwatch
“Looks hard at first but trust me after about one day, you can tell the time almost as fast as a regular watch. Guaranteed that everyone who sees it will ask you about it. The time is displayed by simply adding the lights. 20 plus 10 plus 2= 32 minutes. The Red Warning light is for the 6 hour mark and the Danger gauge for the other 6 hours. See below for details.”

  1. The first watch is the ugliest watch I’ve seen in awhile. The other ones are cool, but not something I’d wear. What’s wrong with just normal watches?

  2. Those things are just fun to wear. People will ask what it is when you wear one. And they have a high level of g33kness. I was browsing that tokyo site. I really love the blue equaliser one! 😀

  3. I think most of the watches are cool. I’d love to have one but the prices are rediculous. I’d try and make my own if I thought I could do the circuits small enough.

I’d love for someone to ask me the time and Id show it and theyd just sit there not knowing how to read it.

  4. They have a certain cool-device factor, thats for sure. But as a watch, u know, to see what time it is they are absolutely crap. Number 5 (top one) is very designer, but it takes 5 secs to see how late it is, in comparison to 0.2 seconds (or even less maybe) for a regular watch.

    Good for lonely people.

  5. Yeah, ok it takes some time to “read” the time..

Anyway, how expensive are they? I mean, it’s all in YEN. :s

  6. Eh, I could never really get into the whole led watch thing. I mean they look kewl and all but eh.. Does this bar me from being a real geek?

  7. UniQue !! loved them although it was really hard for me to understand how most of them work !!
    really loved them …

    keep it up ^_^

  8. I would rather wear one of these than a regular watch. At least it is interesting. I am soooo board with regular peaople’s way of thinking. Everyone is the same and no one never tries anything different. You might as well just die, if you are that boaring. Think outside of the box people.

  9. #5 is great … slim and nice to look at. Takes a second, but really, I’m not in that big a hurry. Kevin, learn to spell.

  10. “Telling the time uses the colored LED’s to represent hours & minutes.
By looking at the 4 rows of lights, the Green & Red LED’s at the top indicate the hour simply by counting them. 3 red = 3 o’clock.”

Bad translation aside, that’s hardly a binary reckoning.
