You probably remember the Tranax ATM problems. The with the Tranax machines was due to a poor password system. This latest issue is with the security of ATM PIN number for the entire ATM network worldwide!

“Researchers who work for an Israeli computer security company say they have discovered a fundamental weakness in the system that banks use to keep debit card PIN codes secret while they are transported across bank networks – a flaw that they say could undermine the entire debit card system.

Using the methods outlined by the researchers, a hacker could siphon off thousands of PIN codes and compromise hundreds of banks, said Odelia Moshe Ostrovsky, the report’s principal author. Criminals could then print phony debit cards and simultaneously withdraw vast amounts of cash using ATMs around the world, she said.

Rarely does the transmission go directly to a consumer’s bank. Instead, it is handed off several times on a banking network run by several third parties. Each time a bank passes the data along, it goes through a switch that contains the hardware security module and the PIN block is unscrambled and then rescrambled. It is at these intermediate points where hackers could trick the machines into divulging PINs, the ARX researchers said.”

    Just go to your bank and they will have it reset in about 5 minutes. That would be much easier then cracking the PIN number system!

    *Nautilus Hysoung NH-2100

    Most default passwords are 555555, 222222 &111111 and can be programmed via the keypad menu..{request for the programmer $100}
    moreso you can use a laptop to programm an atm machine to dispense cash thinking that $1 is $10 the software is available but its quit risky..

  57. Hi! The ATM machines these days use triple DES which means that it is virtually impossible to crack their Pins. The Machine itself is situated away from the user-inside the Bank. How then do you fools manage to programme it with a laptop when it is even protected by a strong firewall. The communication is further delivered by Pin Blocks which Am very sure you cant even manage to decipher.
    Lets not get excited here for we are bound to be liars. The easiest way is for one to get a Magnetic card encoder, Make friends with one of the bank staff to get him to give you some details like – He can steal customers PIN envelope as it arrives at the bank, then get the card number – that’s all you need to constitute card. Just construct the track two alone and include the service code and you shall get cash: i.e track2: 6380920280067080=1009501000. the machine indicates the start and end sentinel. the first is the PAN, = is the separator, then 1009 is the expiry year first. 5010 may be the service code for the particular bank that identifies it. Even if you had credit card information, you would still need to know these details to constitute the card.
    So stop dreaming. ATM machines today are equipped with very sophisticated technology that will make it impossible to operated back door through the normal user interface. If you need the card encoders I can hook you up with reliable market either in China or else where, but stop dreaming. Backdoor codes are used from the ATMS inside interface.     I’ve heard so much complaint about the magnetic card that can’t read data in atm machine..reason is due to the two secret numbers that is missing..however i’ve found a cheaper way (software)to extract the two secret from a card to make a perfect copy. This software copy the rest of the chip data to a smartcard a.k.a “yes card” this yes yes card don’t need original pin because the card alone verifies the user pin.
