Homemade Oscilloscope

Not the easiest DIY project but this homemade Homemade Oscilloscope looks and works great.

“Homemade Cathode Ray Tube with cold cathode. Vacuum is somewhere between 100 – 200 microns, easily attainable with amateur equipment. Vertical deflection is done using an electrostatic plate. This CRT is used as an oscilloscope to display a signal from a sound synthesizer. “

  1. Um… They produced a x-ray source in the garage. Man… Whacky. Isn’t this potentially harmful?

  2. ohh, this is über cool…

  3. M0rt1n: Not likely, because the X-Ray isn’t intensive enough to harm you, and it isn’t directed at you either. It is directed at the end of the tube. It’s a lot less harmful than starting at a CRT monitor for hours!
