Hard Disk Drive Drum

Fibra from Belgrade has created an interesting drum system. It uses old hard drive read/write arms as drum hammers. The original hard drive voice coils are used to move the arms. The picture above is the new system which doesn’t seem to be documented yet, have a look at the video for a demonstration of the first version. If you need a larger hard drive project fix have a look at these hard drive projects.

  1. Nice. Bonus points for the Commodore 128 PSU brick powering the whole thing.

  2. Peapole seam to find all sorts of uses for old harddrives

  3. Can the hard drive simultaneously be used as a speaker?

  4. 3 minutes of video, and not a single drumbeat produced by a harddrive? there is a picture of a hdd with a drumstick, why is it not in the video?

  5. The picture is of the second version, there is no video of that one yet though.
