Shell Eco Marathon Europe 2009

If you are lucky enough to be in Germany you might want to check out the high tech Shell Eco Marathon Europe 2009 entries. The event will be at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz track from May 7th to 9th. One of the teams competing is Team Aurora from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, see some of their car pictures below.

"The current European Shell Eco-marathon record for a combustion engine entry was set in 2004 by the team from Lycée La Joliverie (France) at 3,410 km on the equivalent of a single litre of fuel. For prototype vehicles using fuel cells, the record is even more impressive. In 2005, the hydrogen-powered vehicle built by Swiss team ETH Zurich achieved a projected 3,836 km on the equivalent of a single litre of fuel. This is the equivalent of driving from Paris to Moscow! 1. For the US people, that’s 8,020 miles per gallon for the gas one.

  2. i went last year to shell eco marathon (nogaro, France) it was great, i was on the Cior Racing Team, and we were competing with a solar powered car

  3. Hi xicofixas,

Cool that you competed! How did your team do? Seems that to even come close to winning everything has to go your way on competition day.

  4. it wasn’t that good, the electronics were not great, so it was only in the last attempt that i could drive the car, and because the day was not sunny the battery only made about 4 laps, but it was a great experience, and a great week, we’ve learn a lot with other teams, all the work made was volunteer and our school didn’t had lots of money for the project. working in that project was amazing, I’m just sorry we didn’t qualify

    some pics from the car
