There are hundreds of these booths that sell souvenirs in Varadero Cuba. They all have the capability of customizing the leather and wood crafts using Wood Burning Engravers. They all look the same, a box that plugs into 220V with a wooden hand held burning tool. There was a guy repairing one and let me snap some pictures. Inside is a modified MOT (microwave oven transformer) with just around 10 wraps for the secondary. The case appears to be recycled car battery case, the design is quite simple but very effective.
