Hiya,
I hope you can help because I’ve been everywhere, no luck in finding the product anywhere…. to be-honest, I don’t think it has been invented yet.
all it is, is:
Item = ‘male audio in (L)white + (R)red’ convert the other end of the wireinto a ‘USB PORT’
Reason = for USB Headphones to work on Tv’s
Problem = could not locate product, or even if invented yet.
is it possible if you can please point me in the direction, i be most greatful!
Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you real soon
Cheers

close, seen loads of those adapters for the headphones.
but what i’m after is slightly dif.
heres a pic: http://www1.dealextreme.com/productimages/sku_5143_1.jpg
keep the ends of the red and white wire / cut off the other end and change it to a usb … now not the usb stick end but the usb port for a usb stick to go in.. heres the pic of the port.. but not that many just one will do 🙂
http://www.geekalerts.com/u/car-usb-port.jpg
thats what im after 🙂
Permalink
OK I see what you mean. You have a normal audio source and would like to listen to it using some USB headphones. It actually seems a bit of a round about way to listen to audio since the USB headphones convert digital to analog which is what is coming out of the TV.
As far as I know you will need to plug the TV into a computer so that it can do the analog to digital conversion, then plug your USB headphones into the computer to listen to it. You could do this using a microcontroller that has analog in and USB support but that would be lots of work. 🙂
Permalink
lol that would be a mission dragging my pc to the TV, but it will work.
the reason I ask of this crazy request, is that i brought a PS3 and a USB headphones.
The problem is, is that the sony playstation 3 does not play music/video/gameplay sounds through the headphones… all it is capable of it to do, is use the headphones to listen to people talk to you and for you talk back.. (poor design software, apparantly I heard ‘Xbox’ got it right)
my only other choice was to route the headphones into the TV.. but that is another problem all-together, because the TV is not compatable with usb headphones..
back to the drawing board I go lol 🙂
Its great chatting with you and cheeers v much 4 ur time and assist! 🙂
Permalink
If you don’t mind doing some soldering (since I don’t think this’s made) you can solder up an adapter that will plug into the RCA audio outputs of the TV and go to a female headphone jack. You would need to use normal headphones but that would work.

I am responsible for the functionality of a “talkback” circuit in a master control room in a radio station. The console operator needs to be able to push a button at the console and speak into a microphone, so the announcer in the booth can hear him/her in headphones. The announcer should also be able to do the same thing on their end. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello,
I was just looking at your article about hacks for dead hard drives. Thanks for putting that up! There’s some fun things on there, but I just have one question. Where can you find dead hard drives? Do you have any ideas? Thanks again!
Hi Mitch,
Ask around, I am sure some of your friends have a 286 or 386 in the closet that is useless these days. You can also see some of the computer repair shops but they will be newer versions which may not be the best for all projects. There also seems to be lots of recycling places turning up to recycle e-waste, I am sure they would be happy to give away some of the drives if you are going to build something with them.

Hi Rick,
I saw your post and fixed it. You need to put the URL of just the image on the page, highlight it and click the IMG button (which adds the IMG tags around it).
The link you were using was to a page that contained the image. To get the actual image location just click on the image and select property.
Thanks for entering the contest by the way!
