Laser Beam activated Paintball Gun

Teamcynergy has come up with a Laser Beam activated Paintball Gun. It is constructed using a Parallax Basic Stamp kit purchased at Radio Shack. This project truly demonstrates that you don’t need tons of equipment to build something that is very interesting. “Watch as this machine gun senses someone in its path using laser and fires relentlessly when an object crosses its path. LED Modded Gauges

Sean over at LED MOD has some cool LED car mod products. I would be interested to know how the RPM changing kits sense the RPM. Is there a line that goes to the spark plug or is there some sort of data connection to the car computer? However it works the results are great!

What Will Scientists Do With the World’s Smallest Microwave? - Inventor Spot

Scientists have constructed a “micro microwave,” a long, narrow device measuring 4 mm long by 7 micrometers wide (the width of a red blood cell). Considered to be the smallest microwave ever, the technology will likely be used for medical “lab-on-a-chip” devices. Micro microwave:: The gold traces on the glass circle are microwave transmission lines. The 1.25 cm wide polymer block over the transmission line in the center houses a

Steam Punk Tesla CD Turbine Skill Saw

Here is a creative way to carve your pumpkin next year! Have a look at this Instructable for more details. “Pumpkin carving with the Tesla CD Turbine, Steampunk Edition. New design of the little turbine made from CD’s gets put to the test. Will the barely held on, magnetically-coupled, spinning Skilsaw blade, cut through the tough and messy flesh of the poor, tearful Pumpkin??” Thanks Rick

VJ System - Vocal Joystick

The University of Washington is working on an amazing voice recognition system called VJ which stands for Vocal Joystick. No it doesn’t do text to speech like everyone else is doing, it allows simple vocal sounds control your computer mouse. After watching the videos it looks much easier than the other technologies I have seen in the past. More videos after the jump. “The goal of this project is to

Cigarette Machine uses Face-Recognition Software

Not sure if this technology will be fool proof. I can imagine some hacks coming out such as holding up a picture up to the camera to fool it… “The vending machine has an “adult recognition” button, and when this is pressed a tiny camera takes a photo of the customer and analyzes certain features such as wrinkles and sagging around the eyes and mouth as well as the frame

DARPA Urban Challenge

Go to the DARPA Urban Challenge site to have a closer look at this years event. “The DARPA Urban Challenge is an autonomous vehicle research and development program with the goal of developing technology that will keep warfighters off the battlefield and out of harm’s way. The Urban Challenge features autonomous ground vehicles maneuvering in a mock city environment, executing simulated military supply missions while merging into moving traffic, navigating
