If you do lots of circuit board repairs you have probably looked into getting a pre-heat station. Since they are quite costly they tend to be out of reach of the home hobbyist. If you are ever considering to make your own check out the Home Made Circuit Board Pre-Heat workstation for Solder Re-work over at JXP Creations.
“Circuit board pre-heat workstations are very expensive, $350.00 – $2500.00. The goal of this project is to demonstrate how to make a circuit board pre-heat workstation for around $50.00 with no special tools and the majority of materials from Home Depot and Harbor Freight Tools.”

Good project, but I would recommend not using the HF heat gun. I’ve had 2 crap out on me rather quickly.
