Another solution to monitor if your computer is still in standby, is to use the Wake-on-LAN connector. Most modern ATX motherboards should have it. It’s a 3-pin connector near the PCI slots and will always give you +5volt. So all you have to do is hook up a led with resistor to the connector (mostly the powerled plug of your ATX case will fit on to it) and your standby led is ready!

Isn’t it enough to check that the switch on the PSU is thurned off.The power cable should still be attached tho so the case is grounded.
