Normally I do not care much for seasonal DIY hacks, not because they are not cool, but often other sites do way too many of them at a time.
Here is a pretty cool version of a Tesla Coil. No photoshop what so ever. Just some creative setup, some gel filters and a 91 second time exposure.
Merry Tesla, oops! I mean, Christmas.

Great idea to make it colored! How did the shoot with Discovery Channel Canada go? What show will it air on? I watch Daily Planet (on Discovery Channel Canada) most days and it seems like your project is a fit for that show…

Shooting for Discovery took 6 hours for 65 mins of DigiBeta. It is being edited right in Canada aiming for a 3-4 minute segment on Daily Planet shown in Canada before Xmas. To get the same effect on video they will have to sum up frames and colorise the appropriate ones. The best effect will be if they can make it cumulative, like it is being painted as I go.

I will keep an eye out for it. 🙂
