DIY Flamethrower

Kids don’t try this one at home! This DIY Flamethrower by Everett Bradford looks dangerous but it does a good job of imitating the fire throwing capability of Pyro from X-Men.

"The Pyro System is my final project for a mechanisms class in the spring of 2008. It gives me the power that the X-Men character Pyro has"

  1. Wow, dangerous AND complicated! Nice!

  2. The trigger system looks painful and tricky to operate. It would be easier to use the palm of the hand, and a downward motion of the hand to spark the long nose lighter. For the fuel delivery trigger, pressing downward with the tip of your middle finger is much easier than pressing up with the first bone in that finger.

tl;dr version: Flip the forearm part upside down for more comfortable use.

  3. What a nutcase! “Fuel delivery system is worn on the waist” He’s gonna blow himself in half any day now… Don’t build things like this. It’s NOT cool, just stupid. Leave things like this to the movie special effects guys. They are more likely to know what they are doing…

  4. @Danny: Nah he’s fine, let the young ones experiment.

  5. Incoming Darwin Award?

  6. I’m impressed, it’s clever and good work on the mechanisms, I’m sure his engineering class professor was amused.

  7. Finally, something useful! Can we get these on our Car Hoods like the Car Machine Gun post?

  8. too dangerous
