This wooden clock by Clayton Boyer is something else! I think I have found the perfect winter project for when I have a bit more time on my hands.
"Her large, nearly 14” diameter wheel and unique escapement make Solaris the focal point of the room. Her unusual, and very forgiving escapement releases every two seconds with a sound quite unlike anything else. It is not your usual “Tick Tock." Ten leaf pinions used throughout make for an extremely smooth mechanism. "

Why must they put that music over the top of the video?
I would much have much preferred to hear the clock.

Actually, the “unusual, and very forgiving escapement” is pretty much standard gravity escapement.
It’s a beautiful clock. Thanks for blogging about it!

Boyer’s been making wonderful kinetic sculptures for quite a while — I’ve seen a few in action and Gordond is right…the music of the mechanism is superb.
