Recycled PCB Ornament Ideas

If you want everyone to know that you are a true geek then you need to purchase (or make) some of these cool Recycled PCB Ornaments. They look good and help the environment! Not sure why there are no components on the boards though unless they get the blanks from a circuit board manufacturing facility but I think one with components would look more interesting anyway.

"Decorate your Christmas tree with these funky and good looking hanging Christmas decorations made from recycled circuit boards and recycled CDs, that would otherwise have been thrown away."

  1. Very cool, it looks as if they’ve never had solder on them either, curious.

    Mike.

  2. Cool! Reminds me of when everyone started selling old 72pin ram sticks on key chains.

  3. I always spend a lot of time admiring the intricate patterns of the PCB traces whenever I upgrade my motherboard 🙂 These shiny pads makes me want to get my hands on a virgin, unsoldered motherboard PCB.

@kiwi_frog : solder may contain lead, which is quite poisonous, and now of restricted usage and sale in Europe. That’s why ever if it is tempting you should not stir your coffee with ram sticks 😉

  4. @vivi: That’d explain my weird symptoms lately…. 🙂

    Mike.

  5. Yep. Reminds me of the RAM keychains as well as the clipboards and earrings. I used to make things like this for friends and family. Unfortunately, they didn’t share my fascination with electronics. And they were afraid of the lead hazards around the kids, even with the thick layers of lacquer on them.

@vivi… I think Electronics Goldmine in Arizona sells unused circuit boards. Usually, they are factory rejects. I think they still ship internationally. Or you can make your own from your rejects. Or even make some functional ones.

  6. Up to 5$ for already populated scrap boards … and I thought their normal stuff was expensive 🙂

Electronic Goldmine looks like an awesome resource but unfortunately they won’t ship to Europe.
