The item to guess was a 3 Penny Radio

The winner is  Alan M. (There were 216 entries.)

I was impressed by some of the detective work. Some people actually messed with the image that I doctored to bring back the hidden sections of the image!

Below are some pictures of the prize.

  1. duuh… helo Tesla xD

  2. Very nice! Straight from my childhood experiments.

  3. How many petabytes is the boombox?

  4. Well I know this would cost at least 3 cents to build.

  5. Hey MikeD,

If this was one of the guess the price contests you would be on your way!

  6. its obviously a bunch of stuff soldered together… possibly with nefarious intent..

  7. Wow. The prize and the thing to guess are both things that would be handy to have around.

@NatureTM, if you go to the sponsor’s website, you can find out an awful lot about the prize.

  8. Could this be made using euro cents?

  9. I really hope I win – ’cause you are guaranteed to get all the girls with a Rad Blaster.

  10. I DJ at a local club and used to carry in lots and lots of big, heavy equipment; now with the Rad Blaster(tm) I just set it up on a table, push play, and the built-in speakers do the rest! Trust me; the built-in battery lasts all night with-out recharging, and the bass from the dual 1/2 inch speakers shake the entire club! Really.

And that guy who commented about getting all the girls is spot on… WOW!!!!!

(I am not an employee of http://RadBlasters.com, and this is not a paid endorsement… trust me.)

  11. simon those pennies are only being used as a place to solder to. i don’t know of any coins that wouldn’t work unless solder just won’t stick to euro coins (pennies are copper coated) 3 pieces of copper clad board or a bread board would also work.

  12. I can’t wait to spit my phat rhymes once I win that dope prize.

  13. I wish you would post what the thing actually is after the contest is over…as it happens to be, I *know* what this one is, but it’d be nice to see how far off I am on other contests…

  14. Hi scientist,

The winners of all the outstanding contests including the New Year Contest will be announced this weekend. I wish there were someone or something that I can blame, but it is comes down to me… Sorry for the delay. My goal is to keep on top of it a bit better for the next ones.

  15. Scientist,

Alan usually posts what the item is after the contest is over. Just keep checking back in and you’ll see the winner and what the item was.

  16. Alan,
When is the weekend on your calandur?

  17. Hey DrAltaica,

Looks like it was a long weekend for me. 🙂 I had intended to get the winners announced on the weekend but a few things came up. I apologize for the delay.

  18. This one was rather easy to find. Searching for three penny solder (or wire or circuit) brings it up right away.
