Well i am glad they know how to edit video, but the intentional bloopers were really anoying, which made the video hard to watch…
Good idea, though.

That first video insulted my intelligence. Then I remembered the content was made in Florida and I became embarrassed and insulted that that state is part of my country. The fact that they actually HAVE an electric hot water heater in a state that runs coal and oil burning power plants is a nightmare for any Green movement. Electric heaters have the absolute worst efficiency. This is Florida we’re talking about; the Sunshine State. How hard would it be to toss out that electric water heater and just use the black pipe they put up? On a side note, that black plastic that’s being heated up by the sun is likely to give its user cancer.

Yeah I like the concept a lot, and was nice to see a simple DIY version. I need to do something like this, except I have no water pressure to work with, and no power to pump it. 🙂 Will be lotsa fun ..
Thanks for the video’s, it motivated me to get back into this project! …

The videos were interesting, but as the first commenter said, the “intentional bloopers” were a wee bit painful.
Unfortunately, most of the solar projects we appear to hear these days belong to the DIY variety…for sure, there are some large projects, but solar simply is not getting the attention it deserves…and for some strange reason, corn and soya are getting the attention they simply don’t deserve!
Interesting videos, anyway

Just so u know you should not be drinking any water that comes out of this when showering. It goes thru pvc, and this is a big no no for water sources when being fed into something. It can leave trace amounts of chemicals in the water, and for this reason plumbing companies only use it for pipes leading away from your house. It also is probably not helping that the pvc is out in the hot sun bleeding chemicals into ur water, but thats just my 2 cents u can shower in this if u want.

This is down right stupid. You are rich enough to live in Florida and waste hours and hours filming proof of your mechanical inability and general clumsiness trying to jump on the bandwagon and do something “Green.” You might use this two or three times to show your green movement hippie friends what you did last weekend while you were stoned, but you actually have done nothing other than toss PVC hose on your roof, heat a few gallons of (now toxin ridden) water and pretend that you are saving the Earth. Set the bong down and actually improve on or create a newer material that can replace tar shingle or terracotta roofing as well as utilize solar energy. Disclaimer- If your idea starts with “Dude,” sober up, stop rolling up papers and start reading them, and think about “real world” applications of your idea.
Always keep inventing and thinking outside of the norms, but ALWAYS consider practicality and implementation.

Ha! I love this stuff. 11 gallons of water and his parts list was probably $200. did he mention this only works on full sun days? did he mention it doesn’t work at night? did he mention solar doesn’t work on cloudy days?
if you think solar is a good idea, ask our customer who put $50k into solar on his house. he wanted to sell back to us, an electric utility, the extra power he generates. he is still paying every month 🙂
at least it makes a nice decoration for the car port 🙂
