David Randolph from Systm cracks open a Guitar Hero and hooked up a show controller that would allow him to program in all the key presses for a particular song. It isn’t as high tech as the last Guitar Hero hack we saw but it should allow a flawless performance after quite a bit of work.

He spent $400 on trivial electronics. Granted, the software is a nice addition (that comes with the $400 worth of hardware), but this project is not that great. The video was also littered with very pervasive advertising.
The FPGA guitar hero was much better.

The video was full of advertising because he used a $400 piece of hardware.
Its a ok idea but im not a huge fan of Dave Randolf he is good a studio building but.

is it a joke ? why he spend around 400$ on outdated/overpriced hardware which is not needed for such project, a 20 years old PIC like 16f84 for 5$ will do the job
