  1. That heatsink is not standard 🙂

  2. This is another one of those “either you know it, or you don’t” things; so I’m going to say…

    It’s not your father’s 6BE6.

    (or 12BH7A, 6K6GT, 12BA4…)

  3. Good eye Mike, the chip heatsink may not be stock. Hopefully this doesn’t confuse anyone.

  4. I know what this is. I even saw it in my junk pile the other day. Now, if only I could remember what I got it out of…

  5. The heatsink is stock 🙂 I have seen one before when I opened mine up to see what was inside.

  6. To clarify, the heatsink on the lower left is stock. The one on the 40-pin DIP is an addon
(or maybe they started including them on later versions). It certainly isn’t on mine.

  7. Almost_There, I disagree. I found out what it is, but it took some lucky guess-and-check.

  8. The contest ended more than a week ago. Is there a result? I wouldn’t mind knowing if I was right or not. 🙂

  9. Yihaa ! Thanks ! Just wondering, were there many correct answers ?
