Electronic Hacks

Modified Ink Printer Prints Electronic Circuits

Don’t throw away your old HP ink-jet printer, Seyed Bidoki has developed a way to print electronic circuits with it. “A desktop printer loaded with a silver salt solution and vitamin C has been used to produce electronic circuits. The UK researchers behind the feat say their experimental device could pave the way for safer and cheaper electronics manufacturing. PhD student Seyed Bidoki loaded a standard Hewlett Packard ink-jet printer

Humping Robots

If you are looking for a good laugh, Hector the humping robot is just the ticket. 🙂 Also have a look at the humping dog mod, it only operates when data is being transfered to the USB drive. Video after the jump.

Computer Controlled Follow Eyes

I love the concept of these computer controlled eyes, I think this technique would be great at Halloween and Christmas. Have a full size figure in the front lawn that watches everyone go by. “The eyes are made from large pizza boxes cardboard and rolled by RC-servos that are controlled by an ATTiny2313 that’s connected to the PC using the low-speed software usb stack. The camera is connected using USB

Build a Hall Effect Gaussmeter

Rick Hoadley (the Magnet Man) has put together a simple gaussmeter project that uses a hall effect sensor to measure magnetic fields. The video shows two meters, one that uses a PIC microcontroller to measure and show the values and the simple version. There is no plans for the PIC version that I could see. Perhaps if there is enough demand Rick will make some plans and code available.

DIY Shark Cam

If you have ever wanted to build an underwater camera cheap this is a great project to reference. The Shark Cam uses a tiny security camera, some PVC pipe, duct tape and some other odds and ends. “Last year while shark fishing off the Dumbarton Pier and recording the catch on a 20 year old VHS camera I had an idea. I thought of how cool it would be to

Wireless Router with Analogue Utilization Meter

It seems like everything in this hectic world is going digital. This Wireless Router with Analogue Utilization Meter project takes digital information and presents it in an analog form. Video after the jump. “There are a number of ways to find out how much bandwidth is being used. This being the first pass at a digital to analogue conversion of the utilisation, I opted for simply using the uplink LED

AVR Ethernet Weather Station

Guido Socher build this Ethernet Weather Station project that uses an AVR microcontroller to process data from weather sensors. Software and schematics are provided. “Using an add-on card to the already existing avr ethernet board we build a weather station. That is a weather station with a build-in webserver. My original plan was to have sensors for temperature, air pressure and wind. I started a prototype and it worked very
