If you want a battery box that would look at home at the cottage have a look at this Vintage 9 Volt Battery Box creation made by JingleJoe. Before you pass it by as a quick hack keep in mind that everything was custom made including the terminals.
"Here is one of my most recent creations, a "casemod" of sorts for a 9 volt battery. Made all but the terminals myself the terminals were made for me by a friend with a lathe, I aged and stained the wood myself and made my own stencil for number/letter the whole thing is about 8cm x 8cm."

This is very nice. Looks like it would fit in very nicely with steampunk stuff. I like it.

That is freakin’ awesome!
Maybe it’s just me, but with all the extra space, I would add in a few more 9v batteries in parallel, just so that it have a nice long rugged life.

How am I supposed to fit this in my smoke detector?

🙂 that last post almost tipped me off my chair. anyways i really like this. i’m tempted to make some boxes like this for my favorite voltages. it wouldn’t be too hard to use some high capacity li-po’s with regulators and/or boost converters with a max1555 for charging. just damn stylish.
